Privacy Policy for Yanez

Last Updated: June 30, 2026

Yanez ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Yanez mobile application (the "App") and our website located at www.yanez.ai/privacy (the "Site").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.

1. Information We Collect

We believe in radical data minimization. We only collect the absolute minimum amount of data required to provide the core functionality of the Yanez App.

A. Biometric and Face Data (On-Device Only)

To provide our core identity verification and privacy-preserving features, the App utilizes advanced on-device processing to analyze facial geometry and features ("Face Data").

- Collection: When you explicitly grant the App permission to access your device’s camera, the App captures Face Data in real time.

- Use and Processing: Face Data is used solely to generate a unique, mathematical, and privacy-preserving cryptographic token called a "UBK." All processing of the raw Face Data occurs entirely locally, on-device, within the secure hardware architecture (the Secure Enclave) of your phone. This mathematical process is strictly one-way and irreversible; there is no computational method to reverse-engineer or reconstruct the original Face Data from the UBK.

- Zero Retention: We have a zero-retention policy for raw face biometrics. Raw Face Data is processed instantaneously in volatile memory and is immediately destroyed upon the creation of the UBK; it is never saved to the device's persistent storage.

B. Derived Cryptographic Tokens (UBK)

- The generated non-biometric, anonymous UBK is published to and permanently stored on a public decentralized registry.

- This token contains no personally identifiable information and cannot be linked back to your physical face by third parties. It is stored permanently on the registry to allow for ongoing, secure comparisons and account verification.

C. Automatically Collected Data

When you access the App, we may automatically collect certain non-personal information, including:

- Device Information: Your device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFV).

- Usage Data: Diagnostic logs, performance metrics, and information about how you interact with the App (e.g., crash reports). This data is used strictly to maintain and improve App performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate, maintain, and improve the App. Specifically, we use it to:

- Generate the cryptographic UBK to enable secure, decentralized authentication.

- Verify identity peer-to-peer or against the decentralized registry as requested by your actions within the App.

- Monitor and analyze App usage and technical performance to fix bugs and improve user experience.

3. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Because of our architecture, your data is shared only in the following highly restricted manners:

- Raw Face Data: Raw Face Data never leaves your local device and is never shared with our servers, external partners, third-party AI services, or any other entities.

- Decentralized Registry: To facilitate decentralized authentication and comparison, the derived, anonymous, non-biometric UBK is published to a public decentralized registry. Because this registry is public and decentralized, published UBKs are visible to the public, but they are structurally anonymous and do not contain personal identifiers.

- Legal Requirements: We may disclose non-biometric technical data (like device logs) if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

4. Data Security

The security of your data is built into the core architecture of Yanez.

Hardware-Level Security: We isolate the collection and processing of raw biometric data to your phone's native secure hardware (the Apple Secure Enclave). Yanez operations are sandboxed, ensuring that raw cryptographic processing keys and raw camera frames remain completely inaccessible to external networks or unauthorized software.

For any non-biometric data transmitted to our systems (such as technical crash reports), we use industry-standard transport layer security (TLS) encryption.

5. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the European Economic Area under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have specific rights regarding your data. However, given our architectural privacy-by-design, please note how these rights apply to Yanez:

- Camera Permissions: You can revoke the App's access to your device's camera at any time through your iOS system settings.

- Access and Deletion: Because raw Face Data is never stored or retained by us, and because we do not collect typical identifying information (like names or emails) unless you explicitly provide it to us for support, we generally hold no personal data on our servers to access or delete.

- Decentralized Data: Cryptographic UBKs published to a decentralized registry are permanent due to the nature of distributed ledger technology. However, these tokens are structurally anonymous and do not identify you personally.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 18 (or the applicable age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information or biometric data from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
